For those of you who were unable to attend the Canadian premiere of Leocadiya Kashperova's Sonata for Piano and Cello, Op.1 No.1, the live recording of “Troubled Times, Indomitable Spirits” is now available for streaming at https://duokashperova.com/video 

We are thrilled to share that the audience fell in love with Kashperova's Sonata almost as much as we did.  In the months since making our studio audio recording of the piece, we'd made tons of new discoveries (and realized our errors in some of our “corrections”), and feel that this live performance brings her music to life in a way that is more true to Lyolya's original intentions.  Of course, we will probably end up making more new discoveries and have to record it again!

Duo Kashperova's recording of Kaspherova's Sonata for Piano and Cello in G Major, Op.1 No.1 is now available for streaming and download at https://duokashperova.com/music.  

After much research into the composer's music and life and intricate study of her urtext score, Alyssa and Sandra wanted to record an interpretation that fully captured Kashperova's unique voice and legacy.  They will be putting together some essays and videos documenting the discoveries they made on this journey (see https://duokashperova.com/op-1-no-1-discoveries), as well as an annotated score for fellow performers.

Duo Kashperova is releasing their recording of Leocadiya Kashperova's Sonata for Piano and Cello, Op.1, No.1 in January, 2026.

Kashperova (1872-1940) has been described as a “late romantic” composer.  But after much research into her music and life, and time spent getting to know all the intricacies of this sonata, Alyssa and Sandra do not believe that this description fully captures Kashperova's unique voice and legacy.  The Duo is excited to share this sonata true to her urtext score, as well as what they've learned of her style, and her lifelong pushing of boundaries, both musical and social.
